lyrics
walkin' down this open road.
people to see and places to go.
can you explain this all to me?
guess that's the way it's supposed to be.
22 and not a clue
of what to say or what to do.
still a kid--but not for long.
where did it all go wrong?
i'm not gettin any younger as the days pass me by.
so come with me. the dreams i see... say goodbye.
nobody ever said that it was easy.
nobody ever told you it was fair.
walkin' down this twisted road...
i think i've been down this road before.
well now i'm gettin older as the months and years roll by.
so come with me. the dreams i see... let's fly.
goodbye...

summer ‘01. i was living in california for the summer, soon to graduate college. lyrics expressed exactly how i was feeling at the time (and probably still feel). recorded entirely at gybe & tyna’s house in a 2 hour span from midnight to 2am the morning of 7/9/06. i’d never really finalized a set structure for the song before recording it so some of the measure counts are inconsistent. backing lead guitar/solo was improvised and recorded entirely in one take.
